7 tips for coping with post-holiday stress

The long days of idleness and carefree in the sun spent on the beach or in the mountains inevitably come to an end... and with them, sometimes, also the sense of well-being.

After the period of relaxation and summer rest, returning to the hectic pace of always can cause a real condition of discomfort characterized by exhaustion, anxiety and depression.

There are about 6 million Italians who experience the resumption of normal work activities with discontent and sadness — emotions that can be reflected on the somatic level, causing the body and nervous system to enter into crisis.

The so-called "return-to-work syndrome" can manifest itself with asthenia, decreased attention, headaches, low energy, widespread sense of malaise, but also digestive disorders, muscle pain, insomnia and mood swings.

To deal with the stress of returning after the holidays painlessly, we have compiled 7 tips:

  • Returning to the routine gradually, returning from vacation a few days earlier to get used to the temperatures and rhythms of the city without a sudden impact. Work should also be resumed gradually, if possible.
  • Follow a proper diet, have plenty of hydration and do physical activity to help reduce stress and rest better.
  • Stay in the sunlight, taking lunch breaks outdoors to avoid putting your body and mind under stress with the transition from sunlight on the beach to artificial light in the office.
  • Take frequent breaks of at least 15 minutes every two hours to reactivate circulation and rest your eyes.
  • Thinking positively to shift the focus to what we want and our abilities.
  • Avoid technology in bed in order to sleep a lot and well, avoiding going from 8-10 hours of sleep during the holiday period to 6-7 hours when you return. Any insomnia problems should be addressed with a hot bath in the evening or with a herbal tea.
  • Wear Taopatch® EMOTION for emotional treatment. Our medical nanotechnology, through the emission of specific and tested wavelengths, can improve our body's ability to release neurotransmitters that counterbalance stress.
